Working in partnership with The Learning Partnership for Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly (LPCo) we have funding, through the European Social Fund (ESF), to enable us to subsidies the course costs . NB. we are not able to fund some legislative type courses*.

You can book individual staff on our scheduled courses or alternatively, if you have a minimum of 8 staff members for the training, you can hold an ‘in house’ course at your own establishment and at your own convenience. The Level 3 Award in Delivering Training (RQF) is a qualification designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective trainers in various settings. This award, regulated by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), is focused on helping trainers develop the competencies required to plan, deliver, and evaluate training sessions.

The Level 3 award is designed for individuals who may be responsible for delivering training in a variety of settings, including workplaces, educational institutions, or vocational training centers.

It is also very suitable for those who are new to training or wish to enhance their existing training skills and is a useful course and qualification.

Key components of this qualification typically include:

Understanding Training Principles: Learners gain an understanding of the key principles and concepts related to training. This includes understanding different learning styles, adult learning theory, and the training cycle.

Planning Training Sessions: Participants learn how to plan effective training sessions. This involves setting clear objectives, creating engaging content, and developing training materials.

Delivering Training: The qualification covers the delivery aspect of training. This includes communication skills, engaging with participants, managing group dynamics, and adapting training methods to meet the needs of learners.

Assessment and Evaluation: The course often includes a focus on assessing the effectiveness of training and evaluating learner outcomes. This may involve various assessment methods and tools.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants typically receive a Highfield Level 3 Award in Delivering Training (RQF) certification, which could enhance individuals career prospects in training and development roles. The specific content and assessment methods may vary depending on the training provider and course structure, but the overarching goal is to equip individuals with the competence to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate training sessions.

Advanced Menopause First Aid – 2 days

A 2 day blended delivery including, Manopause for Men and Managers, Subscription to MenoMuse, downloadable Meno Workbook, downloadable Meno Guide, Ongoing Support and downloadable Resource Pack.

Mixology 2 days

Day 1 covers; Introduction to cocktails – why are we here? What do you want to gather from this course? Famous cocktails and their history. Understanding the business. Market place and your business’s location in it. Picking the right drinks for your clients. Bar equipment explained. The Magic 5 cocktails. Fundamentals of making a drink and preparation area. Technique, glass choice, garnishing. Practical end with tasting. Homework – take your business and place it in the market place and choose 4 cocktails for your venue and why.

Day 2 covers; Students present their business location in the market and choose 4 classic cocktails and explain why you chose those ones for your premises. Costings for drinks and looking at spend per head. Seasonality and theming cocktail menus. Building a menu – drink choice and range, price and specials. Riffing classic and creating new drinks. Students to create something new based on a classic and present with reasoning and background and cost. Glass presentation and garnishes. Customer service and cocktail advise. Q&A.

Manager’s Toolkit – 3 days

This programme is ideal for those individuals in the role of Management and Team Leadership. The course is specifically written to engage on a variety of subjects and provide a thought provoking way of managing, directing and supporting your team. It’s an exciting and refreshing way to approach management from a totally positive and ‘forward thinking’ perspective, whilst enabling the individual to reflect and analyse how they may wish to approach future challenges in a more concise and confident manner. Topics cover, the Employee induction – what to include, Change management – how to deal with and direct change, Your employees journey – understand and appreciate your employees and their job/career goals, Conflict management and resolution – how to identify and deal with conflict within your teams, Stress management – identify the source of stress, Mental health for colleagues – look for the signs and be able to support mental health, Teamwork, and Team Building.

Supervisors course – 3 days

This course is designed for those who have previously held greater responsibility within a job role and wish to progress their skills further into a Team Leading or Supervisory position. Written specifically for those who wish to reach for the ‘next step’ in their career path. During this course specific skills are addressed to enable a person to confidently lead and effectively motivate a team.

The participant will also complete an accredited qualification: Highfield Level 2 Award in Conflict Management

Lead Your Team – 5 days

Leading a team and people management, planning skills, positive team culture, conflict resolution, adapting to change, building positive relationships, team building, effective time management, resilience, assumptions awareness and responsibility, staying in charge and control in unexpected situations, manage the impact of work activities on the environment, personal development and CPD.

The participant will also complete an accredited qualification: Highfield Level 2 Award in the Principles of Team Leading

Train to Trainer – Highfield Level 3 Award in Delivering Training – 3 days

This qualification provides a good basis to help learners get a ‘first foot’ into training. The focus is on the effective delivery of training, allowing learners to develop planning, preparation and delivery skills, including delivery methods, questioning techniques and time management. It’s mainly aimed at hose who will use pre-prepared training materials to deliver training within the workplace, as opposed to a training qualification that is more focussed on procedures, protocol and regulatory requirements, such as education an training. Topics include, Be able to plan and prepare a training session, Be able to deliver a training session, Time management and, Be able to evaluate a training sessions. This qualification is assessed by a practical assessment and a self-evaluation report. The learning will deliver a micro-teach totalling 20 to 30 minutes which demonstrates suitable level of achievement against each assessment criteria. The learner will produce an assessment pack consisting of the micro-teach and all accompanying evidence, a simple timed lesson plan and a self evaluation report.

The participant will complete the accredited qualification: Highfield Level 3 Award in Delivering Training

Housekeeping – 2 days

This course is suitable for anyone working in Housekeeping and cleaning roles within the Hospitality industry. It will provide a set of skills to confidently work within a team and feel confident in meeting tight deadlines. This course also provides the Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health and The Prevention and Control of Infection in Housekeeping. It will further develop understanding of many of the different skills required to work within Back of House such as, teamwork, internal & eternal customer service, conflict resolution, adapting to change, time management, risk assessment, manual handling, start up and prep, end of shift clean down, COSHH and infection control.

Highfield Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering – 3 days

This course is for current or future Supervisors / Managers working within a food handling environment.

  • The importance of food safety management procedures and complying with the law.
  • The role of the supervisor in maintaining food safety.
  • Ensuring the microbiological, chemical, physical and allergenic hazards are controlled.
  • Ensuring good temperature control and stock rotation
  • Cleaning and disinfection.
  • Food poisoning.
  • The storage and temperature control of food.
  • Food spoilage and preservation.
  • The importance of ensuring good personal hygiene and preventing contamination, including handwashing, protective clothing, cuts training and reporting illness.
  • Ensuring the work areas and equipment are kept clean and safe.
  • Ensuring safe waste disposal and pest management.
  • Implementing food safety management systems.

Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines – 3.5 days

The Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. You will gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and, learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 Award in Wines – 5.5 days

The Level 3 Award in Wines is designed to give a thorough understanding of the factors that account for the style, quality and price of the principal still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world. The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines with regards to their style, quality and price. The qualification provides the in-depth product knowledge required to underpin job skills and competences, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors. Successful candidates will be able to describe the characteristics of the principal wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and price. They will consequently be in a position to advise management, to answer customer queries authoritatively, and to make informed selections of wines in a variety of situations.

Qualifications structure – to meet the Level 3 Award in Wines qualification aims the participant needs to complete six learning outcomes spread over two units. The participant must, complete 20 hours of work in their own time prior to the commencement of the course, attend all scheduled training days, and complete an additional 70 hours work in their own time. The Level 3 Award in Wines is a huge step up from the content of the Level 2 Award in Wines. A considered progression from Level 2!

The Customer Experience – 2 days

The course is written for people who enjoy the variety of jobs in a customer facing role within Hospitality. Super Host – 1 day

This workshop is for people who enjoy the variety of jobs in a customer facing role within Hospitality. The workshop covers, establish your Business Service Charter, Understand the importance of a ‘Winning Welcome’, Ways to impress your guests, Building and Leading your best team, the importance of integrity, team motivation, pandemic confidence.

Carbon Zero Pledge – 1 day

All staff are invited to gain a more in depth understanding on how we can help the environment while at work and convey your environmental ethos to your customers. It is no longer a USP to be environmentally friendly but, more an essential part of a pro-active and responsible organisation. This workshop will provide you with a set of skills to confidently highlight to your customers the environmental and sustainability outputs of you and your business. Topics include, Educate and Innovate, Look at Policy and Statements, Work with Colleagues, Build a Hub and, How to be recognised.

Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health – 1 day

This is a great course to get friends and colleagues talking to each other, learn how to look out for each other, read any danger signs and build strong bonds. How to spot any signs within your customers who may be suffering from mental health problems.

Highfield Level 2 Award in Conflict Management – 1 day*

How communication can be used to solve problems and reduce the likelihood of conflict, the factors that influence human responses in conflict situations, how to assess and reduce risks in conflict situations, how to communicate effectively and de-escalate conflict in emotive situations and good practice to follow after conflict situations.

Local Knowledge Workshop – 1 day

Highfield Level 2 Award for Personal License Holders – 1 day*

The nature, purpose and period of validity of a personal license, the application process and legal duties when applying for a personal license, the legal duties of a personal license holder, the roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities, the nature and strength of alcohol and the effect on the body and the law in relation to premises licenses.

Safe Cleaning – 1 day

This course is suitable for anyone working in Housekeeping and cleaning roles within the Hospitality sector. The workshop will provide you with a set of skills to confidently understand and carry out the principles of safe cleaning and infection control. Topics covered include, Understand common infections, Outline common infections, Identify the cause to infection, Understand the reasons for the use of PPE, Have a knowledge on the documentation process, Understand waste management, Identify the roles and responsibilities while preventing infection and, Understand the importance of hand hygiene.

Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering – 1 day*

By law, food business operators must ensure that food handlers receive the appropriate supervision and training in food hygiene. This qualification is suitable for those working in a catering environment who are responsible for handling food. It is the most popular food safety accepted by enforcement officers and auditors.
